Wind Farm Facts & Figures

Project Facts

Burton Wold Wind Farm is Northamptonshire s first Wind Farm, consisting of 10 turbines with a maximum wind farm output of 20 Megawatts.

The turbines are supplied by Enercon Gmbh, one of the leading wind turbine manufacturers in the world. The Enercon E70 model has a 2 Megawatt capacity, is 64 metres to the hub and has a 71 metre rotor blade diameter, giving a 99.5 metre tip height.

The project was developed by Your Energy Ltd, is owned by Mistral Windfarms and operated by Your Energy Services Ltd companies all operating under the Mistral Group. E.ON UK is buying the electricity output of the project under a long term power purchase contract.

The Mistral Group are advised by Platina Finance Ltd, who are authorised and regulated by the FSA.

Project Benefits

  • The ten turbines will produce around 47 million units of renewable electricity annually, equivalent to the needs of around 10,000 homes, which is a quarter of Kettering Borough's households.
  • The project will also displace around 40,000 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) 475 tonnes of Sulphur Dioxide and 140 tonnes Nitrogen Oxides from entering the atmosphere annually1.
  • Regional companies Breheny and Lamva were awarded the civil and electrical installation sub-contracts for the wind farm.
  • Your Energy/Mistral will make a contribution of £40,000 upon construction of the wind farm and £10,000 every year thereafter over the life of the project, for the implementation of energy efficiency and education projects in Burton Latimer.

This fund is being administered by the Kettering Borough Council.

Footnote 1:This is based on an emissions factor of 860g CO2/kWh, as electricity generated by coal fired power stations is typically displaced by wind power generating capacity. However, it should be noted that future changes in the power generating mix and fuel costs in the UK over the life of the wind farm means this figure may change over time.
